Free Online Breastfeeding Helpline
Got a breastfeeding question? Ask me anything!
Sometimes you don't need a full consultation. You just need to talk something through with someone who knows breastfeeding inside out.
That's why I offer a free online Breastfeeding Helpline every Monday from 5:00–5:45pm Bangkok time (you can dial in from anywhere). I really, really enjoy helping families, so if you’re wondering whether it’s ok to dial in: it is.
You can drop in on Zoom, ask your question, and leave when you've got the answer you need. No appointment, no cost, and no question is too small.
What can I ask about?
Anything related to breastfeeding and lactation. You might have a concern, conflicting advice, a question you've been meaning to ask, or something you've read online that you're just not sure about.
It’s open to:
Pregnant or adopting parents preparing to breastfeed
Families with a newborn or older baby
Parents who are pumping or combination feeding
Parents navigating weaning
Anyone in between
Things that often come up include breastfeeding challenges, prenatal breastfeeding planning, milk supply, pumping, feeding patterns, latch, introducing bottles, weaning, common myths, or simply "Is this normal?"
And if you're fascinated by breastfeeding and have a question you've always wondered about, you're welcome too.
Why talk to me when you have AI?!
There's an enormous amount of breastfeeding information online. Some of it is excellent. But advice that worked beautifully for one family may not be appropriate for yours. And uniquely in clinical practice, a lactation consultant has two patients - the mother and the baby, and answers depend on understanding the dynamic and mechanics between that unique pair.
For example, I often see mommas ask on Facebook groups how to boost their supply or wake a baby too sleepy to feed, and sometimes get eye-watering advice. By the time they realise there’s an underlying issue that the well-meaning responders didn’t know about, the challenge may have cascaded.
I want to democratise access to accurate information.
I'll listen to what's going on, ask questions when I need more context, and help you work out what information is actually relevant to you and your baby.
Sometimes I'll be able to answer your question straight away. Sometimes I'll ask a few questions first so I don't give you advice that sounds right but isn't right for you. And sometimes the safest and most useful thing I can do is point you towards a reliable resource or recommend that you speak to another healthcare professional.
There's no judgement, no silly questions and no pressure at all to book a consultation. I just want your breastfeeding to work.
